Dr Wrighton teaches across literary studies with a specialism in 20th century American literature and culture, literary theory, and modern poetry. In his approach to an innovative, research-led teaching practice he has developed a personal and professional Philosophy of Teaching and pioneers the latest advances in digital pedagogy in his Teaching Goals, Strategies, and Evaluation Methods. In June 2014, Dr Wrighton was accredited to Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (read the testimonials written in support of his accreditation).
Since 2004, Dr Wrighton has taught at higher education institutions with a widening participation, social regeneration, and professional and applied mandate; work which he brings into synergy with research enterprise, developing new courses and supervising graduate students in dedicated Research Centers. From April 2009 – January 2010, he played a central role in a nation-wide HEFCW funded project supporting the enhancement of learning and teaching through the innovative use of digital technologies (see the project report here). His teaching experience spans a number of UK higher institutions in England and Wales, and internationally, at Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada.
